A successful fantasy baseball draft begins with a clear philosophy before you log in. In 2026, the most reliable strategy in most formats remains securing elite hitters in the first two or three rounds before pivoting to premium starting pitching. The five traditional categories — batting average, home runs, RBI, stolen bases, and runs — reward balanced rosters that can contribute across the board.

The universal DH continues to change how rosters are constructed, adding one more productive lineup spot per team. This means more hitter depth is available in all markets, which should push you toward elite pitching when you have the chance to grab it.
